Usage & Safety

For Adult

• Usual relief dose: 1 to 2 inhalations as needed, generally every 4 to 6 hours.

• Do not use more frequently or in larger amounts than prescribed; increasing reliance may indicate worsening respiratory disease.

For Children

• Children aged 4 years and older may generally use 1 to 2 inhalations as needed every 4 to 6 hours, only as directed by a healthcare professional.
• For exercise-induced bronchospasm in children, 2 inhalations may be used approximately 15 to 30 minutes before exercise when prescribed.
• Safety and dosing in children younger than 4 years are not established for this product; medical supervision is required.
• A spacer may be recommended for children who have difficulty coordinating inhalation.

Side Effects

• Common: Tremor, nervousness, headache, dizziness, palpitations, muscle cramps, throat irritation, and nausea.
• Possible: Fast heartbeat, chest discomfort, changes in blood pressure, or low potassium with excessive use.
• Serious: Paradoxical bronchospasm, severe allergic reaction, irregular heartbeat, or significant chest pain; discontinue and obtain urgent medical care.

Contraindications

• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to salbutamol or any formulation ingredient.
• Use cautiously in patients with heart disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, seizure disorders, or low potassium levels.
• Not intended to replace controller therapy for persistent asthma.
• Seek urgent medical attention if breathing difficulty is severe, rapidly worsening, or not relieved by the prescribed dose.

Precautions & Warnings

• Beta-blockers may reduce the bronchodilator effect and can trigger bronchospasm; use only under medical supervision.

• Diuretics, corticosteroids, and other medicines that lower potassium may increase the risk of hypokalemia.

• Digoxin levels or effects may be affected; monitoring may be required.

Pregnancy

• Use during pregnancy only when clearly needed and under medical advice; maintaining adequate control of asthma is important.
• Do not exceed the prescribed dose, particularly late in pregnancy, because excessive beta2-agonist use may cause maternal and fetal cardiovascular or metabolic effects.
• Salbutamol is generally considered compatible with breastfeeding when used at recommended inhaled doses, but consult a healthcare professional before use.
