Usage & Safety

For Adult

• Symptomatic non-erosive GERD: 30 mg once daily for up to 4 weeks.
• Maintenance of healed erosive esophagitis and relief of heartburn: 30 mg once daily, as prescribed.
• Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush or chew it.
• It may be taken with or without food. If swallowing is difficult, the capsule contents may be sprinkled on a tablespoon of applesauce and swallowed immediately without chewing.

For Children

• For patients 12 years and older, dosing should follow the indication and the prescribing clinician's instructions.
• Safety and effectiveness have not been established in children younger than 12 years.
• Children should use this medicine only under medical supervision.

Side Effects

• Common: diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, and upper-respiratory symptoms.
• Possible: headache, constipation, dizziness, and skin rash.
• Seek urgent medical attention for difficulty breathing or swallowing, severe allergic reactions, persistent watery diarrhea, seizures, irregular heartbeat, severe muscle spasms, or marked weakness.
• Long-term use may be associated with low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, bone fractures, fundic gland polyps, and Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea.

Contraindications

• Known allergy to dexlansoprazole, other proton-pump inhibitors, or any ingredient in the product.
• Concomitant use with rilpivirine-containing medicines.
