  • Manufacturer Name: Atco
  • Drug Class: Topical corticosteroid, antibacterial, and antifungal combination
  • Dosage Form: Ointment
  • Storage: Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.
  • Pack Size: Pack of 1

Ingredients

  • Clobetasol propionate 0.05% w/w
  • Neomycin 0.5% w/w
  • Nystatin 100,000 IU/g

Benefits

  • Short-term treatment of inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis when infection is present or suspected.
  • Helps reduce redness, swelling, itching, and inflammation.
  • Provides antibacterial and antifungal activity against susceptible skin infections.

Usage & Safety

For Adult

  • Apply a thin layer to the affected skin as directed by a doctor, usually once or twice daily.
  • Gently rub in until absorbed and wash hands before and after application unless the hands are being treated.
  • Use the smallest amount for the shortest duration necessary; do not generally use continuously for more than 4 weeks unless specifically directed.
  • Avoid airtight or occlusive dressings unless prescribed by a healthcare professional.

For Children

  • Do not use in children under 2 years of age.
  • In older children, use only on medical advice and for the shortest possible duration because potent topical steroids may be absorbed more readily.
  • Avoid use on diaper rash or under diapers acting as an occlusive dressing unless specifically prescribed.
  • Seek medical advice if prolonged treatment is required or if growth delay or other systemic effects are suspected.

Side Effects

  • Common: burning, stinging, itching, irritation, redness, dryness, or discomfort at the application site.
  • With prolonged or excessive use: skin thinning, stretch marks, visible small blood vessels, acne-like eruptions, changes in pigmentation, or increased hair growth.
  • Rare or serious: allergic contact dermatitis, worsening or spread of infection, delayed healing, blurred vision, glaucoma, cataracts, or systemic corticosteroid effects.
  • Contact a doctor if severe diarrhea or abdominal cramps occur during or after use, particularly with prolonged treatment.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if allergic to clobetasol, neomycin, nystatin, aminoglycoside antibiotics, or any formulation ingredient.
  • Do not use for untreated viral infections such as herpes or chickenpox, untreated fungal infections such as ringworm or athlete's foot, or untreated parasitic infections.
  • Avoid use on acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, burns, open wounds, or unexplained skin conditions.
  • Do not apply to the eyes or eyelids unless specifically directed; repeated eye exposure may increase the risk of glaucoma or cataracts.
  • Avoid prolonged use on the face, groin, genitals, armpits, or skin folds unless prescribed.
  • Stop use and seek medical advice if significant irritation, worsening infection, or an allergic reaction develops.

Precautions & Warnings

  • Tell the doctor about ritonavir, itraconazole, or other strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, which may increase systemic corticosteroid exposure.
  • Use caution with systemic aminoglycoside antibiotics or neuromuscular-blocking medicines because of the neomycin component.
  • Food and drinks are not expected to affect the topical action.
  • Do not combine with other topical steroid, antibiotic, or antifungal products on the same area unless advised by a healthcare professional.

Pregnancy

  • Use during pregnancy only when clearly needed and prescribed after a risk-benefit assessment.
  • Avoid extensive application, prolonged treatment, or use under occlusion during pregnancy.
  • Consult a doctor before breastfeeding; avoid applying to the nipple or breast immediately before feeding.
  • If applied to the breast, wash the area thoroughly before breastfeeding.
