Usage & Safety

For Adult

• The usual starting dose is 10 mg taken orally at least 30 minutes before anticipated sexual activity.
• The dose may be adjusted by a healthcare professional to 5 mg or 20 mg according to response and tolerability.
• Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours.
• Sexual stimulation is required for the medicine to work.

Contraindications

• Do not use with nitrate medicines, including nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, or isosorbide mononitrate, because a serious and potentially dangerous fall in blood pressure may occur.
• Do not use with riociguat or other guanylate cyclase stimulators.
• Use is not appropriate when sexual activity is medically inadvisable, including certain serious cardiovascular conditions.
• Use cautiously in patients with heart disease, low blood pressure, uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent heart attack or stroke, significant liver or kidney disease, or a history of vision loss related to reduced blood flow.
• Seek urgent medical attention for an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden loss of vision, or sudden loss of hearing.

Precautions & Warnings

• Do not combine with nitrates, nitric oxide donors, or riociguat.
• Use caution with alpha-blockers, antihypertensives, and other medicines that lower blood pressure.
• Other PDE5 inhibitors or erectile-dysfunction treatments may increase the risk of adverse effects and should not be combined unless specifically directed by a clinician.
• Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, and some macrolide antibiotics, may increase tadalafil levels.
• CYP3A4 inducers, such as rifampicin, may reduce its effectiveness.
• Large amounts of alcohol may increase dizziness, low blood pressure, headache, or rapid heartbeat.
• Grapefruit or grapefruit juice may increase tadalafil exposure and should be used cautiously.
